We finished up our king and queens this week. Loved getting to know each kid and have them each have a special day. I feel more connected to them and think our class has bonded more since we all have shared about ourselves!

The kids took cute pics with their grandparents last week on grandparents day. I loved how their presents turned out!!! They were sent home in folders earlier this week. :)

We have been learning about nouns in grammar/writing this week. The kids were sorting animals and things on the smart board. They did an awesome job!

The kids even practiced this during independent writing in their journals. Check out a few of the kids work. They drew an animal and a thing.

This week in math we have been learning different ways to make 5. Here are several kids working hard on this skill

We had 2 selected to be kids with character for showing the character word: respect. They were invited to a party in the dining room today. Congrats to Aislynn and Samantha! They even were picked to be all stars in PE today, too. Go girls!!!!

A month, already??

I can not believe we have been I school for a month now. Wow! What a great start to our school year. We have been busy learning rules and procedures and lots of concepts for each subject we teach to our kiddos. I am so proud of the progress I am seeing in my class already. I am in the process of testing my little ones to see what all they know so far! :) I am super excited to get my students into reading groups, too. I know I already have readers but some that aren't reading but are so eager and excited to start learning!!! Eeek! That brings happiness to my heart!!

We are still doing King and Queen each day. Here are a few more kiddos when it was their special day. So sorry if your child isn't pictured. I was out of the building a few days due to out of town weddings. I know the kids have loved this activity!!

So one of my sweet girls surprised me with a September happy!! Aislynn came in my class after Labor Day with a huge smile and a gift just for me! She was giggling and so happy for me to open it. I was in awe of this gift she gave me. It is so meaningful to me and love looking at it each day. It is something I look at each day!!

Here it is up close!!! Thanks Farrell family! :)

The last few weeks in writing we have been learning about labeling. We did an activity where the kids built a house out of construction paper. The kids had a color code sheet to help them decide how many colorful squares they needed to put on their house. These colorful squares represented who all lived in their home. They did such a great job on this!!! I love the different houses- shows just how different each kid is. So creative and imaginative!!

Mary Elizabeth was music star las week in music with Mrs. Pollard. Whoop whoop!!

We had such a wonderful morning last Thursday for Grandparents day. Our school had a schedule for each classroom which helped make everything go smoothly. Our schedule started at 8:30 and ended at 10. We started in the gym at the book fair. The grandparents and students were able to walk around and pick out a few things at the book fair. Then everyone came back to the room for a craft and singing our grandparents a song. Our last rotation was the playground. The grandparents were able to watch their grandchild interact with others in their class. We had such a great time!! I am in the process of getting pictures printed for another present. Be looking in your child's folder soon! ;)

Second week in K!

We had more queen and kings this week. They loved sharing their items in their bag and wearing their cape and crown mostly!

We also had some all stars in PE this week. Congrats to Mary Elizabeth and Emma! They did a great job listening to Coach Apsache and received a certificate!!

The 1st week of school, the kids had an at home project where they were supposed to decorate a piece of scrapbook paper however they wanted. I love this project because the students get to work together with their parents and siblings to make it "perfect". The students were able to share their page in front of the class. Everyone loved this!! We are gonna keep these in our classroom to view and look at throughout the year. I will send them home at the end of the year for you to keep!!
