Partner Games

Snowman Addition! The students are to roll two dice and write the two numbers it landed on in the small and medium size snow balls. They add these two numbers to get their sum or total and write this in the bottom snowball.

In early December, we learned about the et word family. The kids were able to play a partner puzzle game where they had to make matches of the beginning sound and ending chunk to make a word. They also had pictures on their cards to help them match it too. They love working with their friends. They really do learn from their peers.

Beginning of December

All I can is our PTA is FABULOUS!! These pictures are from a staff meeting at the beginning of December after our Thanksgiving break. Love the decor and the treats they had for us. It was all delicious. The other pictures are from our Staff Christmas Luncheon that was catered by Market Place. We sure do have some creative mama's at school. They share their craftiness and willingness to serve which is very appreciative. We love you, PTA!!!

Star Students

We had lots of star students in music and PE this fall. Here are some from Novemebr and December. I am proud of my kiddos for showing exceptional behavior in their pull outs.

End of November

Around thanksgiving time, we get to take some time to think about what and who we are thankful for. We made a list of some, check them out!
Evan brought me a cute sack of goodies. Love him and his family. It gave me a boost to get through the holidays!! They sure do know what I love!

VIPs reader!
We were able to attend the 2nd grade, Hats performance in the dining room. They did such a good job. We loved their songs. Way to go Mrs. Pollard and Mrs. Burrall.
The Thursday before Thanksgiving, we had a Thanksgiving feast in the dining room. The kids dressed like Indians and ate thanksgiving type food items. Some loved their meal but most didn't. It's all about the experience though, right?! Glad I had lots of snacks that afternoon. Ha!

Hunter's mom was our secret reader before our thanksgiving break. She brought her previous boys to help read to the class. It's always fun to have family come to our classroom. Roberts is such a family/parent oriented school.
Sweet Helm family!
They surprised me with a very cute and comfy vest, too. Can you say so nice? I am so thankful for the rottenness. ;)

Mid November

We celebrated Veteran's Day by wearing red, white, and blue and making cards for some heros that served our country. I was privileged to tell them about my papaw and my cousin, Matt. After school I delievered the cards and tears started coming. These women and men who fight for our country are so thankful for the encouraging words and gestures by others. Glad we could help show a small portion of appreciation towards them.

Our class was the 1st place class who won the 1st in math trophy for 2 weeks!! We got to keep this big thing in our room for awhile. The kids love this online math program especially these two!! Always working hard at computer lab and at home! Keep it up, class!!
Love the fall season and all the things that come along with it like turkeys, pumpkins, cornucopias, etc. Our class made the cutest turkeys out of construction paper to help decorate our bulletin board outside our classroom. Don't want to take it down...ever!

Nov. 3-5

The 1st Monday of every month, we have a staff meeting after school. It's always full of lots of information and can overwhelm us. We have awesome parents at Roberts that know how to make us happy and let us take a breather. Our Pta is fabulous!!! Wendy Farrell and Allison Ward decorated and provided snacks for our November meeting. Aren't they so talented??
Tuesday, November 4th was Election Day. I thought it was appropriate to teach my students the process of voting. I read several books from our library, watched a book on bookflix and we even had a mock election. The students learned some great vocabulary words like candidate, governor, ballot, etc. Check out our "voting booth" and my students casting their votes for either Mike Ross or Asa Hutchinson.

And our wonderful aids, Mrs. Gardner and Mrs. Shaide counted and tallied the votes. And the winner was ...Mike Ross..

Another exciting thing happened this week in K was that our class got selected for Retro Cafe for excellent behavior during lunch in the dining room. My students love this. They get to sit in a super cool place with old timy booths and listen to music from a jutbox. Here are some of my girls that are feeling oh so special.

Last week in October

We have sure had fun this year in K! We had two really fun events last week. We had a sock hop to celebrate the 50th day of school and went to the pumpkin patch for our fall field trip.

50th day:  The kids dressed up in 50s attire and we went to the soda shop. We had root beer floats, decorated a cookie, hula hooped and danced.

In science we have been leaning about the life cycle of a pumpkin. After many read alouds, videos, crafts, my students and I made a class story of a life cycle of a pumpkin. They worked on this by tables and came back together to put it all in order. I thought my students did a fabulous job!! Good fine motor skills and handwriting, too!
We decided since we have taught all about pumpkin the kids need to have a real life experience so we went to BoBrook Farms. We love this place! They are organized and have rotations set up for classes to rotate throughout their one there. Check out all of our photos from this super fun day!!
