1st Week in K!

Wow! What a great 1st week we have had. My students are doing a good job learning the rules and procedures in our classroom, school, and playground so far. It takes several weeks to get them taught and implemented. Please help remind your child to stay on their best behavior. We want everyone to have a super enjoyable year!!
One of my favorite activities from this week was the first day of kindergarten picture that we took. The students held a large K and smiled for their picture. I hope you are enjoying them!! It's definitely a keeper! Here are all of my students this year on their 1st day!! Cheeseeeee

Aren't they adorable??? I love these sooo much. They turned out super cute. Ok.. Another cool thing we learned about in math was math manipulatives. The students learned how to use these, what they were called and were able to explore with them at their tables. They were introduced to color tiles, pattern blocks, geo blocks, and snap cubes. The kids absolutely LOVED this. Here are some pics of the kids building with the manipulatives.

Here is an anchor chart the kids and I made together. All of the things on this board came out of the kids' mouths. They surprised me with how much they remembered and learned. Yayyy!

Something else that I do each year with my kids at the start of the school year is an activity called King and Queen. Each day there is a different king or queen. They get to wear a crown, robe, and share their items in their get to know me bag! We learn how to spell their name and do an interview with them. The other students learn how to write the king and queen's name and draw their picture, too. Here are a few of the students who have already had their special day!

We even had a Birthday the first week of school. Lauren turned 6!! Here is she with her birthday crown and sticker and how old she is!

Back to School 2013-2014

School is back in session! I am so exited to have 19 little polka dots in my class this new 2013-2014 school year. We have 10 boys and 9 girls. I love the balance of the kids' gender! I think we will all be good friends and work together nicely. As the school year begins, I feel blessed to work at such a great school whose staff is always positive and fully committed to putting students 1st. I feel honored to have a great group of parents and children that I will work with as well. I appreciate you, the parents, in advance to trust in me and let me teach your child. I look forward to an awesome year full of fun and learning experiences.
